Reusable Bag Bin

Reusable Bag Bin

As a responsible community retailer, your Society is always looking at ways to protect our environment and reduce the amount of plastic in our stores, which is why we have introduced the launch of our plastic bag re-use point at Grand Marché St Martin and Grand Marché St Sampsons.

This initiative was designed to help customers who have forgotten their shopping bags. We want to encourage you to pick up a preloved bag rather than spending money on a new one. In return, this will help us reduce the number of new bags being used, giving life back to an old bag and helping our environment.

Our preloved bags are available to pick up from the new reusable bag bin at Grand Marché St Martin and Grand Marché St Sampsons, or you can ask your cashier where to find one.

But if you do take one of our used bags, please remember to reuse it as much as you can or return it as you found it. That way we can give it more life.

If you have any spare plastic bags you no longer need, pop into Grand Marché St Martin and Grand Marché St Sampsons and drop them off at the customer service desk. We would love to take your unwanted bags to reuse and are accepting any type of plastic bag, regardless of the brand. Please just make sure it's in a good condition.

Whether you’ll be picking up an old bag and giving it a new life, or dropping off your spares, join us in helping reduce the impact on our environment.

Bag for Life price increase

We have increased the price of our Bag for Life from 10p to 15p in both islands. We have made this change in a bid to encourage our customers to use less bags and remember to bring back their reusable shopping bags.

Next year, Jersey could become the first place in the British Isles to ban single-use carrier bags. A minimum price for ‘Bags for Life’ will be introduced to encourage islanders to reuse their bags in supermarkets.

Your Society welcome the single-use plastic bag ban and are proud to be leading the way by increasing the price of our Bags for Life ahead of the change next year.
