I love cruising as it is a great way to see different destinations whilst only unpacking your suitcase once.
There are lots of different ships and destinations to choose from with a cruise line and itinerary to suit everyone. There are family friendly ships with lots of activities including children’s clubs for all ages, climbing walls, ice skating and a myriad of other activities.
These cruises are great for multi-generational families providing something for all ages. If you like lots to do, there are ships with world class entertainment every evening, big screen movies under the stars and many activities to take part in during the day, from relaxing spas, well-equipped gyms and other numerous sporting activities.
If you prefer a little more culture, then there are a number of smaller ships with expert guest speakers linked either to a specific activity, or to the destinations visited. These specialist cruise liners offer interesting itineraries on both ocean and river cruises.
Fine dining enthusiasts who like to sample different world cuisines are catered for as many of the ships have speciality restaurants; some linked to famous chefs such as the Marco Pierre White Restaurant on P&O. There are restaurants at sea that offer most of the world’s cuisines from Brazilian Steak restaurants to Japanese Teppanyaki, which can be pre-booked, usually at a small supplement.
Cruising can be from 6 star ultra-luxury to the more budget friendly lines. If you are a first time cruiser then we find the 2 or 3 day taster cruises or the 7 night cruises to either the Norwegian Fjords or France and Northern Spain, departing from Southampton, are usually the most popular and a perfect introduction to cruising.
At Travelmaker, we believe that training is the key to ensuring we offer the best service and our staff have first-hand experience having travelled on many of the cruises and holidays which we offer. From the tall ship Star Clipper, to the smaller, more specialised Ocean and River cruise lines - we’re able to recommend the perfect escape for you.
We pride ourselves on being members of CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) and we hold their highest training award; the only company in the Channel Islands to do so.
