Job Role

We are looking for a delicatessen assistant to join our team at Grand Marché St Helier.

We are willing to employ an individual on a full-time (39 hours per week), permanent basis, or two individuals on a part-time (24 hours per week), permanent contract.
Both the full-time or part-time positions require flexibility to meet the needs of trading hours including afternoons, evenings and possible weekend work.

Delicatessen assistants play a key role in attaining the highest possible standards of customer service, merchandising and all shop floor duties to maximise sales while working within the Society’s mission, vision and values. 

Duties include:

  1. Providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their enquiries

  2. Maintaining a clean and hygienic and uncluttered working area

  3. Correct completion of HACCP records

  4. Preparation/cooking of hot food to go

  5. Slicing of cooked meats and cheese

  6. A willingness to study Basic Food Hygiene Course

  7. Supporting colleagues as part of a good team work ethic

The role can be at times physically challenging and will involve reaching, bending and lifting of stock and standing for long periods of time.

Previous experience in this environment is desired, however, it is not essential as full training will be provided. You should have the ability to deliver great customer service is essential as well as have good written and verbal English.
