Job Role

The Channel Islands Co-operative Society is growing and we want to enhance our internal support office teams.

We’re searching for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our risk and compliance department and to help us make a real difference to the communities we serve.

Based at our support office in Jersey or Guernsey, this role will be to work closely with the Head of Risk and Compliance and the Senior Management Team to facilitate strategic change in order to drive risk and compliance priorities across all areas of the Society.

Experience with a multi service organisation in a similar role or with a medium to large sized organisation, also managing data incidents and breach, would be ideal.

But this role would suit a professionally qualified and experienced individual, preferably with a legal, compliance, IT Security related or audit background.

Job Purpose /

Summary

The Risk Manager will be accountable and responsible for the effective integration and implementation of the Data Governance Framework, oversight of the Compliance Monitoring Program and Loss Prevent Unit(s).

Specific risk areas include governance, information security, data protection, financial regulatory compliance, and operational risk.  ** There is scope for this role to develop into Date Protection Officer.

Experience / Key Skills      

  • A professionally qualified and experienced individual, preferably with a legal, compliance, IT Security related or audit background;
  • Expert knowledge and in-depth understanding of data privacy legislation (including GDPR)
  • Experience with a multi service organisation in a similar role or with a medium to large sized organisation
  • Experience in managing data incidents and breach
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity risk and information security standards
  • Good understanding of the data processing operations carried out, as well as the information systems, and data security and data protection needs a financial service provider and/or in the retail environment
  • Ability to make balanced judgements regarding data privacy risks and to prioritise resources actively around managing those risks
  • Ability to conduct the role independently and with strong professional ethics
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritise tasks and projects
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills – capacity of dealing with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain a high degree of confidentiality, respect, trust and credibility at all levels
  • Strong team player and proven ability to manage a team
  • Enthusiastic and positive with a broad understanding of the business and the broader co-operative movement
  • Experience of influence behaviours at all levels of the organisation
  • The ability to remain calm, controlled and resilient

Please note: This role requires the individual to have five years residency in Jersey Channel Islands, holding an Entitled to Work Registration Card or a valid Guernsey Channel Island Employment Permit Right to Work.
