Giving a Helping Hand to GROW

22 January 2019

We have worked closely with GROW Ltd on a number of projects. Each time we go there we leave with a real sense of pride, knowing that we have been fortunate to work with such a long established, successful community service.

GROW Ltd is a rural occupational workshop located along the Coutanchez, St Sampsons, in Guernsey. They offer supported employment and trainee attendance for people with learning and other disabilities. GROW provides a safe and secure environment where individuals can build up their own self-respect and confidence levels, to be able to work and interact within the wider community.

GROW applied to our Helping Hands Fund in 2018 and were successful in their application. The funding was used for their volunteer charity group, Friends of GROW. We donated £500 towards a storage unit that they were desperately in need of to keep their charity stock and equipment safe and sound!

We asked the manager of GROW what would he would say to another organisation that was thinking of applying to Helping Hands?

His response was: “Take advantage of the application stage – it comes round very early in the year and can give an initial boost to planned projects!

Getting the chance to be in the promotional video was very exciting for some of our attendees who love being made a fuss of.

Thanks to the Co-op Helping Hands team – they and the Co-op allow some thoughtfulness to spread a smile to others.”

If you have a project that could use a helping hand, why not apply for the Helping Hands fund in January?
