Making a real difference with our sunflower lanyards

03 July 2018

Last week we launched our new Hidden Disability Sunflower Scheme. The scheme is part of our disability and inclusion strategy and it’s one of the ways in which we’re making a real difference to the communities we serve.

The scheme has launched for an initial 3-month trial in our Grand Marché stores in Jersey and Guernsey. If successful it will be rolled out to our entire estate, including pharmacy and travel.

Colleagues have received training to support and improve the shopping experience for people with hidden disabilities. They’ve learned all about the challenges these customers may be facing, and how to help them.

We spoke to Hera, Marie and Peter from Grand Marché St Peter about the scheme, and how they think it’ll make a real difference to their customers.

What is the Sunflower scheme?

What did you learn in your hidden disabilities training?

What sort of help will islanders with hidden disabilities receive from colleagues?

What impact do you think this will have on your customers who have hidden disabilities?

And how do you think it will impact the wider community?
