Say hello to Coop Mobile: simple, flexible, and rewarding.

Coop Mobile launched in Guernsey and Jersey this morning and is available across Coop stores and in Coop Pharmacies. Coop Mobile aims to shake up the local mobile market, offering customers great value plans, roaming when they need it, complete pricing transparency and flexibility, and will challenge the model of long contracts and complicated terms and conditions. Above all, Coop Mobile rewards users every month for their loyalty*.

With the flexibility to change plan month to month and make savings on grocery shopping if customers link their mobile account to their member share number, there has never been a better time to switch and sign up to Coop Mobile.

FOUR SIMPLE PLANS

“We’ve spoken to members and customers and conducted extensive research, and one message came across loud and clear: Islanders want a simpler, more transparent way to buy their mobile services. People are fed up with being tied into long contracts and getting little reward for their loyalty,” explains David McGrath, Chief Marketing and Membership Officer at Coop Channel Islands.

“So today, we’re changing how mobile is done, launching four great value SIM-only plans that can be changed every month, depending on the customer’s needs. It’s a simple service that includes everything you need to make calls, text and use data.”

Coop Mobile puts customers in control of how they use their mobile services.

“Our plans offer a choice of data from 5GB to unlimited, and they all come with unlimited texts and calls,” says David. “You’ll pay for your plan each month online or through the app, similar

to a Netflix subscription and to keep things easy, you can set up your account to automatically renew, or you can change plans at any time.

“And for members who link their Coop membership number to their account, each month we’ll give them a 10% shopping voucher that they can use on a single shop. It’s our way of saying thank you for their loyalty,” adds David.

NEED MORE DATA? NO PROBLEM

Coop Mobile customers need never run out of data. If subscribers to the Essential, Everyday or Extra plan need more data, they can quickly and easily buy a data booster online or through the Coop Mobile app, valid for 30 days after purchase. For things like premium rate numbers and calling abroad, customers will need to buy a cash booster, which only expires when you've used it all up.

SAVINGS ON GROCERY SHOPPING

Customers who link their Coop Mobile account with their Coop member number will automatically receive a 10% discount voucher each month to use in any Coop store. Discounts can be used on groceries, electronics, and appliances.

“It could add up to big savings for households,” says David. “Our analysis** shows that a family that spends the average £112 a week on groceries could save £11 a month using a Coop Mobile voucher. If a family of four all joined Coop Mobile and used one of the vouchers on a shop each week, they could make combined savings over the year of £500.”

FLEXIBLE ROAMING

During the customer research phase, Islanders complained about monthly plans that include roaming because they don’t feel they represent good value for people who only travel once or twice a year. Coop Mobile customers can add roaming boosters to their plan when they travel, which means they only pay for what they need, when they need it.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HANDSET RANGE

In line with the Coop’s commitment to ethical trading, environmental sustainability and helping people save money, Coop Mobile offers a range of refurbished handsets in a ‘like new condition’ at attractive prices. All phones are available to buy from dedicated Coop Mobile touchscreens in Coop’s largest stores, or online at coopmobile.coop. New handsets will also be available for those who prefer them.

David McGrath says, “People tell us that they want to make more environmentally friendly and affordable choices. That’s consistent with our promise to reduce our impact on the planet and give our members and customers value every day.

“We’ve selected a range of the most popular handsets, at a mix of prices, all of which can be delivered to your door. We’re certain they will be popular for families who want to get their children set up on mobile without the huge price tag. Customers can also trade in their old phone and put it towards the cost of the new one.”

HOW TO SIGN UP

Customers can pick up a Coop Mobile SIM in participating stores, get one delivered to their home by adding it to their online shop or buy directly from coopmobile.coop or using the app.

Coop members can link their mobile account with their member share number after they’ve activated their new SIM online. Signing up to Coop membership ensures they receive a 10% shopping voucher each month.

Right now, only Sure customers can bring their existing mobile number with them. JT customers are of course welcome to join and benefit from everything Coop Mobile has to offer, but at the moment they cannot bring their existing number with them; number-porting from JT is coming soon.
