Say YES to healthier choices

08 January 2026

At Coop, we believe making better food choices should be simple. That’s why we’ve introduced the YES symbol across our own brand range, your quick guide to healthier options.

When you spot YES, you can be confident the product offers a nutritional benefit. It could count as one of your five-a-day, be a source of fibre, or high in protein. We use YES on foods recommended by the Eatwell Guide, as well as prepared dishes like ready meals, so you can shop smarter without the guesswork.

With YES, eating well is easier than ever, just look for the symbol and make the choice that’s good for you.

It’s important to remember that everyone’s needs are different. So if your favourite product doesn’t have the YES symbol, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s unhealthy.

For example, while our white bread is still a source of fibre, we’ve added the YES symbol to our wholemeal bread to make it easier to spot the higher-fibre option.

Like all Coop products, YES products meet our high brand sourcing standards, including our ethical and sustainability standards.

Products with the YES symbol must meet the following criteria:

Exceptions are naturally occurring nutrients, such as the fat in nuts or oily fish. All savoury products must display a green traffic light

All products must meet salt reduction targets (maximum target per 100g) set out by the UK government

All products must meet the UK government’s calorie reduction targets (maximum guideline for calories per portion)

*According to the UK Department of Health 20024/5 Nutrient Profiling Model (with some exceptions e.g. plain dried fruit and plain nuts with no added ingredients)
