Hereford burger, bacon and ultimate burger sauce
Make the ultimate burger at your barbecue, complete with bacon and a homemade tangy burger sauce.

Ingredients
4 Coop Irresistible Hereford beef burgers
2 tbsp Coop Fairtrade light brown soft sugar
1 tbsp apple sauce
4 rashers Coop Irresistible smoked streaky bacon
4 Coop Irresistible brioche buns
4 tbsp Coop reduced fat mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
2 gherkins, finely chopped
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tomato, sliced
4 Coop lighter mature Cheddar cheese slices
Iceberg lettuce, to serve;
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/Gas 6.2. Grill the burgers according to the pack instructions, then cover with foil and leave to rest for 5 mins.
3. Meanwhile, mix the sugar and apple sauce.
4. Toss the bacon in the mixture and bake for 15-18 mins, until crisp.
5. Halve, then lightly toast the buns.
6. Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, gherkins, and mustard.
7. Spread on the cut sides of the buns, then fill each with a few slices of tomato, a burger, 1 cheese slice, 1 bacon rasher and some iceberg lettuce to serve.
