Job Role
We’re seeking a motivated individual, either an experienced ACT, or a Technician who is looking to develop and train up to ATC, to join our team as a (Traineee) Pharmacy ACT (Accredited Checking Technician) at The Care Hub, L'Aumone.
Join our Pharmacy team. The successful candidate will assist and coordinate daily dispensary operations including final accuracy checks on dispensed prescriptions, in conjunction with the Pharmacist Manager to ensure that the pharmacy operates according to all appropriate standards and regulations.
No two days are ever entirely the same, but your daily duties include:
- To assist and coordinate daily dispensary operations, in conjunction with the Pharmacist Manager
- To accurately dispense medications and appliances with an awareness and understanding of a broad range of relevant work procedures and practices. Ensuring all duties to be carried out in accordance with the business' standard operating procedures.
- To undertake final accuracy check on dispensed prescriptions that have been clinical approved by the Pharmacist, in line with operating procedures.
- Ordering of dispensary stock, receiving and checking dispensary orders in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Ensuring all stock is stored appropriately and safely. Handling all medicines / stock strictly in accordance with expected standard / regulations / training undertaken.
- Maintain any required patient medication records, files and registries of controlled drugs with accuracy and attention, ensuring they are stored securely to ensure patient safety whilst complying with data protection.
- To deliver or support the pharmacist to deliver extended healthcare services with the Pharmacy e.g. supervised medicine consumption or various healthcare testing, following all service protocols and training requirements.
- To provide proactive frontline customer service in the retail area of the pharmacy. Dealing with customer queries both over the counter and the telephone.
- Respond to queries and offer advice relating to the supply/availability and sale of over the counter medicines or a routine pharmaceutical and/or health nature. Knowing when it is appropriate to refer a customer to the responsible Pharmacist. Liaising between customers and the pharmacist relaying clear and accurate information.
- Able to organise their own day to day activities and that of the dispensary team and may act as a 'buddy' to new employees
- Supervise Pharmacy Dispensers and Assistant where appropriate, in conjunction with the Pharmacy Manager
- Assist with the sale of over the counter medicines, handling cash/ cards and account payments in an appropriate manner. Operating the till and may be required to cash up (cover for colleagues).
- Support the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items /prescribed medications to customers.
- Ensuring safe disposal of expired and returned medicines.
- Completed of Continued Professional Development (CPD) requirements to maintain General Pharmaceutical Council registration, including maintaining up to date knowledge of medicines and minor ailments by reading product information and training resources.
- Responsible for carrying out general maintenance and housekeeping, ensuring all work areas are clean and tidy and shelves are filled with optimum amounts of stock.
All we need from you is:
- Pharmacy Technician Training Course (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or equivalent accredited qualification. PLUS Accuracy Checking for Technicians Training Course - OR the drive to study for the qualification.
- Registered as Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Awareness of Data Protection.
- Awareness of Standard Operating Procedures / Coop policies
- Maintenance / attendance of essential health and safety training requirements (ie first aid / fire safety / manual handling)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of people with patience, particularly where there may be barriers to understanding.
- Strong customer service skills / care for customers
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Able to handle Sensitive and Confidential information
- Attention to detail., demonstrating accuracy and precision.
- Able to use technology / software relevant to their role to a good level. Including Microsoft Office suite and Patient Medication Record software to deliver quality outputs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of The Society Aims and Values
- Able to demonstrate drive, commitment and enthusiasm along with willingness to contribute to the tea,
- A valid Right to Work document will be required.
- DBS check is required.
