Customer update: Jersey Dairy product recall

13 March 2026

We want to reassure all our customers that the Jersey Dairy products affected by the recent precautionary recall are no longer available on shelves in any Coop store. Our teams acted immediately, and all impacted items have been removed from sale.

Which products are affected?

The recall applies only to the following products:

  • 1L Jersey Dairy 2.5% Reduced Fat Milk – use-by date: 23 March
  • 250g Jersey Dairy Unsalted Butter – best-before date: 8 June

These products were withdrawn after testing detected a very small trace of a chemical not suitable for human consumption. The contamination level, estimated at around one part per million, is extremely low, and there have been no reports of illness. The recall has been issued purely as a precaution.

Most of the affected stock has already been detained, but Jersey Dairy confirmed that some products were supplied to customers on Wednesday 11 March and Thursday 12 March.

What action has been taken?

We are working closely with Jersey Dairy, the Environmental Health Department, and Public Health authorities to ensure that all affected items were immediately identified and removed from sale.

Jersey Dairy has confirmed that other products in the range are completely unaffected and remain safe to consume.

What should you do if you purchased an affected item?

If you have bought either of the recalled products:

  • Please do not consume it.
  • Return it to your nearest Coop store for a refund with a valid receipt.
  • If you ordered online and you're unable to get to a store, please email hello@channelislands.coop to arrange collection and a refund.

We understand recalls can cause concern, and we appreciate your cooperation as we continue to prioritise your safety. Jersey Dairy has apologised for the inconvenience caused and is committed to resolving the issue promptly.

If you have any questions, our customer service team and in‑store colleagues are here to help.
