Why we are different

The Channel Islands Coop is special because it is locally owned. It is the ownership that really makes the difference to our islands.

Money spent in our stores stays local, because we employ local people, are owned by local people and can source products and services from local businesses that do the same. We return money to our Members through interest payable on withdrawable share capital held by them and payment of dividend when distributable surpluses allow. This money starts back at the beginning of the cycle.

Our community benefits too. This local investment creates employment in our agricultural sector, helping to manage our countryside at the same time. Additionally, it supports diversification in our economy. The land is then protected from encroaching development and the views across our islands are safeguarded for future generations to enjoy as much as we do.
