First impressions

Anne admits she was a ‘little sceptical’ before getting on-board the ocean cruise but was surprised to see people on-board of all ages travelling.

She said: ‘Crystal Cruises is an all-inclusive cruise line with everything you would ever need. You can pick and choose shore excursions for an additional fee, but with so much entertainment on offer such as a casino, cinema and bars – there is plenty to do if you wish to stay on-board.'

Room and food

Anne checked on to the ship at Athens and was welcomed by a deluxe room, with a balcony and very spacious full bathroom. She says the attention to detail was ‘incredible.’

She said: ‘The food was amazing with everything spotless and the service impeccable. There were nine restaurants on-board my ship. Two of them served speciality food, where you have to pre-book but at no extra cost.

‘The waiters could not do enough for you. They even know you by your first name, even though I was only on-board for five nights. I must say that everything was faultless.’

The first stop for the Crystal Cruise was Santorini, before heading to Sicily and then finally docking at Sorrento.

Anne said: ‘Santorini was everything you would expect from the iconic pictures that adorn the luxury brochures. We had time on shore to explore the famous white streets and houses with their distinctive blue roofs. We took a cable car to the top which gave an incredible view of the Greek island.

‘Our next stop was Sicily. However, due to a slight swell, the captain decided against trying to get into the small harbour. But within the hour, a whole day of activities was arranged for the enjoyment of the guests.

‘On the way to Rome, our cruise liner docked at Sorrento where you could again explore by yourselves as Crystal provided the tender to shore free of charge.’

Would you cruise again?

Despite Anne being a little sceptical about cruising before she set sail, she says she ‘disembarked the ship wanting more’ and could have stayed on-board for an extra few nights.

She said: ‘I can see now why clients repeat cruising as it certainly has changed my view and I would definitely try a cruise holiday again.’
