We supported 39 projects in our first funding pay-out of 2022, donating a total of £39,766 across the islands. 

Jersey

 

The National Trust for Jersey 

Volunteer Engagement. Engaging with the general public, corporates and other charities in conservation and habitat management. To purchase First aid kit, sun hat and sickles for volunteers

School Garden and Pond. To develop the use of the school garden and pond to promote pupil wellbeing, outdoor learning and pupil enterprise. Also, will help to grow produce to sell in their honesty store and will be re-invested in the garden.

The Jersey Youth Trust 

YES project - drop-in resources. The YES project is a service providing free confidential advice, guidance and counselling for young people under 25 years. They are in need of upgrading their furnishings / layout of the drop-in centre to ensure it is comfortable, secure and welcoming for young people to access the service.

Jersey Brain Tumour Charity 

Community Support - Funds will support rent to hold regular buddy meetings for those diagnosed or impacted by a Brain Tumour (BT) and who might be struggling to maintain their pre-BT way of life or are recovering from BT treatments including operations.

Focus on Mental Illness 

Family Work Intervention. Focus on Mental Illness provide evidence-based therapeutic family work to those affected by severe mental illness and their family members. Funds will help provide administration for both families, assessment for up to 12 people, and 12 sessions of family therapy for two families.

First Aid: Youth Training. Purchase of a training version of the Group's new defibrillator for the premises, so youth members can learn how to use a defibrillator should it ever become necessary.

St Luke's Church 

Afternoon Teas for Elderly Parishioners. St Luke's has been offering afternoon tea to those over 70 who live in the parish. It has been a well-received series of events that help to bring members of the community together and beat loneliness for the elderly generation.

Book Club @ the library. A new facilitator and volunteer have created a new energy and members want to expand the learning and activities at the book clubThey have developed a list of resources to help them achieve this. The money will be spent on specialist learning resources.

Acorn Enterprises 

Acorn Reuse Metal Recycling Project. Acorn are setting up a metal recycling project in the new Acorn Reuse donations centre in Trinity. The grant pays for tools needed for the metal recycling project: toolboxes, cordless screwdrivers, screwdrivers, magnets, and bits

Oxygen Therapy (Jersey) Limited 

16-25 Neurological Support Group. A support group for 16–25-year-olds with long term neurological conditions. The group meets twice a month, and the fund will help support with some offsite activities with the group throughout the year.

Padel For All 

Equipment Costs. Padel is a very new sport and Jersey is about to have one of the largest facilities in the UK. As it is a new sport, the funds will help to buy rackets and other equipment which is vital for the club to be able to run our schools' programs, so all children can play and enjoy the sport regardless of any social standing.

Jersey Cheshire Home 

Dinamap Monitor. The Dinamap Monitor is used by Hospital teams and is licenced under the medical law for delivering the right and accurate readings of the Human vital signs. The monitor is also capable of alerting the clinician/nurses to changes in the patient's condition or when it is unable to effectively monitor the patient's condition.

Family First 

Family Area. Family First support families whose children are receiving cancer treatment, teenagers with mental health illnesses as well as babies that are born prematurely. We would like to make our office more inviting and a bright and comfortable place for families to visit us.

The Boatman Centre 

The Boatman Centre - Education and Wellness. The Boatman Centre aim is for children, families and adults to be supported as quickly as possible, with no long waiting lists, no referral needed and no daunting paperwork. We focus on all aspects of physical, emotional, social, academic, and mental well-being.

Touch Trust Therapy at Mont a L'Abbé School 

Touch Trust Therapy Sessions. These provide multisensory touch-based music and movement sessions for children with profound disabilities and complex needs. Funds will help enhance this space with specialist sensory lighting to further provide for the needs of the children and to create a beautiful and inviting space.

Coffee Briquettes. To help recycle spent coffee grounds from businesses across the island into an alternative eco-friendly fuel source, from the big franchise coffee chains to independently owned coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Website Accessibility Project. Jersey Heritage wish to make some immediate improvements to our website to improve the accessibility issues. They aim to invest in the UserWay app which will immediately help users with impairments.

Guernsey

Bright Beginnings children's centre 

Funding for support services. A number of services and classes are offered to parents and carers and no charge is made to participants for these. While some participants donate, this is voluntary, and the charity are will use the contribution towards the annual catering costs.

Guernsey Disability Alliance LBG 

Accessibility -the benefits of improved accessibility in the community. For specialist training for GDA members to be able to talk to the media or make presentations or videos and sharing great accessibility stories from the community to encourage the island to improve accessibility and equality of access to everyday activities.

Guernsey Friends of Maggie's 

Lightening the Load. The Lightning the Load project benefits people in a variety of ways, including providing a safe space for people to talk to a Maggie's psychologist or a chance to practice relaxation and mindfulness. Support groups take place both in the Centre and online. The funding will contribute towards relaxation courses and 1-to-1 sessions.

Headway Guernsey 

Weekly cognitive and social session. A weekly session for members who are at greatest risk of isolation, due to their age and their brain injury. Costs applied for cover 1 session a week for a year.

St John Guernsey LBG 

Community First Responder Scheme. The CFR's can attend an incident if it is in their vicinity and often are the first on the scene, before the ambulance arrives. The money will be spent to train and equip and the ongoing support for one responder.

Guernsey Voluntary Service 

Day Centre Music Therapy. Music therapy reduces anxiety and physical effects of stress reduces depression and other symptoms in the elderly. Funding will go towards the cost of the weekly sessions throughout the year.

Men's Shed Guernsey 

Public Access Defibrillator. The Men's Shed Guernsey membership consists predominantly of men of retirement age and may be vulnerable to heart conditionsFunds will have an on-site a public access defibrillator (PAD) installed so that we may meet any on-site cardiac emergency.

Floral Forest 

Fairy doors. Forest Primary School and Le Rondin children are to decorate wooden fairy doors and the best 20 used in a new walking trail from the National Trust Les Caches Farm in July this year. Decorating the doors will help with the mental wellbeing of the children and be a fun activity. 130 Wooden fairy doors

St Mary & St Michael Catholic Primary School PTFA 

Sensory Garden. To create a sensory garden within the grounds of our school. A sensory garden is all about stimulating and engaging the five basic senses of sight, smell, sound, touch and taste. Funds will be used to purchase outdoor musical instruments for our sensory garden.

Liberate LBG 

Liberate Art Club. An inclusive creative space to improve and maintain mental health, reduce isolation and loneliness and develop artistic skills. The money will be spent on art products to make art more accessible to our members (e.g. easels) and replenishing our stock.

Sark School Playground Project. We wish to provide commercial play equipment and safety surfacing to create a modern space, focused on fostering creativity and development of the students’ physical skills, and to enrich both the school day, and our islands younger generations futures.

Russels Day Centre 

Bridging the gap art competition. Socially isolated older adults and pupils of St Martins Primary school will work together to make portraits of Queen Elizabeth prior to her Platinum Jubilee, the plan is to award prizes for category winners and to display all entries Funds will go towards art materials and prizes

Health Connections LBG 

Talking Café. The Talking Cafe project enables local cafes to host one of our Community Connector volunteers who can encourage isolated, frail and elderly people in the community to meet new people, make new friends and get connected to support on our online directory when they visit the cafe. The funds will enable the charity to buy tablets and portable printers for the Community Connectors

The Monnaie Fellowship Trust LBG 

The Jeanne Groves Wheelchair Walkway. Our proposal is to construct a one metre wide, wheelchair-friendly walkway along the north and west sides of our field which is adjacent to the Monnaie Chapel.

Community Socialisation. To enable our residents to continue to socialise with the wider community by providing and maintaining the transport required for them to achieve, and benefit from, such socialisation. Funding would go to insurance and servicing of the vehicle.

Holiday Music Project. To run sessions for children in the holidays, each custom made for children's disability.

Social Activity. Provide monthly meetings for 42 elderly members and two lunches at local hotels. Other activities are encouraged such as board games and bingo. Funds will go towards a free summer lunch to members and a Christmas tea party.

Grow LTD 

Relining of our Water Tanks. Grow Ltd has relocated temporarily (18 months), whilst our redevelopment happens but our new/temp site does not have a reliable water source and we are relying fully on the collection of rainwater. We will use any funds granted to us toward the upkeep and maintenance or our water tanks.

First Tower School 

To buy equipment and furnishings for the nurture provision. Supporting the increasing number of pupils identified with social, emotional and mental health needs.
