Role Purpose

The Human Resources Business Partner will be accountable for delivering an effective and efficient Human Resources service to their designated business areas(s) to support and enable the achievement of both operational and HR objectives.

They will be responsible for providing a high level of HR expertise, working collaboratively with Managers and colleagues to promote best practice and to ensure fair and consistent application of policy, procedure, and process across all business.

  1. Acting as the senior HR point of contact for their designated business area(s), focusing on ensuring questions and queries are dealt with (or directed to an appropriate solution) in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Providing specialist advice and guidance in relation to the interpretation and or application of HR Policies, procedures, and processes and/ or statutory requirements to their designated business area(s).
  3. Supporting the delivery of the annual remuneration process, working closely with the Senior HR Manager, the business, Unions and appropriate stakeholders and the payroll team.
  4. Supporting the business with Performance management process.
  5. Engaging with Managers to support the delivery of HR activities relating to recruitment, selection, onboarding, and induction for their designated business area(s) in adherence with best practice and legal requirements.
  6. Supporting the Senior HR Manager with development and updating of the HR template suite.
  7. Supporting the Senior HR Manager in the creation and delivery of monthly HR key performance indicators and supporting designated business areas(s) with taking actionable steps to address areas of concern.
  8. Supporting the implementation of plans to embed the Society’s values and promote belonging, equality, and diversity as part of the culture of the Society.
  9. Assisting with the integration of various business functions, as designated by the Senior HR Manager.

 Other duties

  1. Carrying out any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the role as required.
  2. Deputising for the Senior HR Manager as required.


  1. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective collaborative working relationships with various stakeholders across all areas of the business.
  2. Will have a practical working knowledge of Employment, Discrimination, Data protection and other relevant laws and legislation, regulatory requirements for both Jersey and Guernsey.
  3. Must be able to balance legal implications, risks, and the needs of stakeholders in order to resolve employment relations challenges.
  4. Will show a high degree of professionalism, understanding the need for confidentiality and discretion.
  5. Will have good time management, strong organisational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks.
  6. Must demonstrate personal accountability, a proactive approach to work and strong work ethic.
  7. Must be focused on delivering high levels of service to the organisation.
  8. Should have sound knowledge in a broad range of HR processes, previous experience of process improvement and project management.
  9. Will be confident in problem solving and persuading and influencing where appropriate.
  10. Must be a professional, credible, and confident communicator (both verbal and written).
  11. Must have strong skills in Microsoft Office package and previous experience of HR systems.
  12. Will be focused on continuous professional development.
  13. Specialist knowledge of Human Resources acquired through a professional HR qualification.
  14. CIPD qualification or equivalent (ideally level 5).


  1. Must be an experienced HR generalist with experience of working at HR Business Partner level/ Senior HR Officer level.
  2. Will have at least 5+ years’ relevant HR experience.
  3. Will have a strong track record of dealing with a wide variety of employment relations matters and be confident in dealing with Disciplinary, Grievance and Capability, and Attendance Management cases.
