We are looking for a Delivery and Warehouse Assistant to join our team.
The role is to provide warehouse and distribution support and support to the Commercial Services Manager and Guernsey Warehouse Supervisor, specifically the accurate checking in and safe putting away of deliveries, picking of store orders and stock requests and their safe loading and delivery to our Guernsey stores and to Ferryspeed, any orders for Guernsey stores.
What will I do:
- Goods receipt, picking and onward delivery from warehouse to society locations and external delivery points
- To store goods in a manner that will allow for safe storage.
- Assist with the moving of goods around warehouse and retail units in a safe and careful manner.
- To assist with the safe off-loading and putting away of any items that is being delivered to the warehouse using the machinery specified for that use and only that they are fully trained to use.
- To adhere to all safe systems of work at all times as prescribed in relevant Risk Assessments.
- The performance of any other duties required by Management in pursuance of a successful operation.
- Act generally at all times to protect and develop the image of the Society; develop and support
community activities, charitable projects, environmental initiatives and local suppliers accordingly. - To implement, administer and develop the Society’s policy on charity involvement, sponsorship and
environmental initiatives. - Maintain high standards whilst using company vehicles obeying traffic laws and rules of the road
What do I need:
- Broad understanding of the business and the broader co-operative movement,
- To be risk aware in the areas under your responsibility
- To hold a clean driving licence ideally with experience of handling roll cages, pallet movements
- A can-do attitude and a great team player
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work on own or within a team
- Good written and verbal English
- Ability to lift heavy articles when required with assistance.
- Must be over 18 years old.
Previous experience is desired, however, it is not essential as full training will be provided.
This role can be physically challenging at times and involves reaching, bending and lifting of stock and standing for long periods of time, all applicants must be able to do this.
If you have less than five years residency status, you may be considered for full time roles. If you've lived more than five years on the island, you may apply for part time roles
EU settled status document will be required from those holding an EU passport
