Role Purpose
Working within the Aims and Values of the Society to maintain the highest
possible standards of Health and Safety and Food Safety by following the relevant
procedures
Main Areas of Responsibility
• Welcome customers this includes delivery drivers by greeting them; offering them assistance.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service, this includes all colleagues accessing the store room
• “Go the extra mile” to drive sales
• Maintain in-stock and presentable conditions on assigned areas
• Handle returns of stock
• Build productive trust relationships with delivery companies and suppliers
• Comply with inventory control procedures
• Suggest ways to improve efficiencies
Principal Responsibilities
• Taking delivery of shipments, checking goods for damage or missing items and storing warehouse goods in an organised manner.
• Observing security of deliveries received.
• Unloading goods which might be palletised or in roll cages.
• Adhere to personal standards and dress regulations
• Daily housekeeping duties and maintaining good standards of stock and merchandising.
• To adhere to Society’s policies, ensuring legal compliance (Health & Safety responsibilities, Food Safety, Manual Handling,)
• Correct use of equipment and prompt report of faults
• To provide the highest standards of Customer Service
• To attend training courses and take ownership of own learning and development;
• To carry out any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post as required.
• Keeps up to date with new processes and procedures
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Requirements
• Customer service skills;
• Effective time-management skills;
• Fork Lift truck licence or willing to take on this qualification
• Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Ability to receive feedback and act on it, when necessary;
• Ability and willingness to acquire job-related skills and knowledge through self-development and by learning from others;
• Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
• Ability to apply additional effort to ensure company goals are achieved;
• Sensitivity and understanding;
• Good attention to detail;
• Background in stock control ideal but not essential
• Retail experience would be advantageous
• Ability to work on own or within a team
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
• Ability to communicate with colleagues and suppliers in English language
• Experience of handling roll cages, crate and pallet movements would be an advantage
