Supporting the aging population

They're the glue that hold our communities together, so our aging population deserves respect and support. We love lending a helping hand to projects that support the older generations, so take a look at how some of our community fund money has been spent. 

Autumn 2023

Jersey Cheshire Home 

We wish to enhance the dining experience for residents creating greater social interaction, inclusion and independence when choosing food by having a servery and height adjustable counter tops. Specialist adjustable pedestal dining tables and specialist upright armchairs with skids.

Amount donated: £2,000

 

The Good Companions Club 

We need to replace our old, leaking washing machine/dryer, as we use it every day, as the club is in use Monday -Friday. We wash all tea towels, dish towels, aprons and quite often the elderly club users washing, when they are struggling to do it at home.

Spring 2023

Aureole Music

Aureole Music lead a very popular community singing service in Jersey's care homes called Monday Melodies. They wish to publish 40 copies of a new and expanded songbook, in three sections as well as 30 copies of large print versions that the residents of the care homes can use.

Spring 2022

St Luke's Church 

Afternoon Teas for Elderly Parishioners. St Luke's has been offering afternoon tea to those over 70 who live in the parish. It has been a well-received series of events that help to bring members of the community together and beat loneliness for the elderly generation.

Autumn 2021

Project Linus UK, Jersey 

Setting up a club and space for monthly knit'n'natter meetings for islanders. Funds will be used for room hire costs.

Aureole Music 

Providing a coordinated programme of music in care homes and day care centres, offering professional standard music performances and a qualified music therapist. Funds will help pay for song books.

To purchase a defibrillator at the site, for residents and for the local community to use. Funds will also provide training.

Spring 2021

Re-engage

To fund social outings and gifts for 8-10 elderly guests living alone, with health issues which restrict them getting out on their own.

Jersey health service ‘enhanced care boxes’

Enhanced care boxes will help carers engage with patients who have dementia or are in hospital with the need of 1:1 care. This funding will go towards dementia friendly robotic cats.
